Rory (boy)
Rory is the anglicization of the Irish name Ruairí/Ruaidhrí and the Scottish form, Ruairidh. Both of these names are derived from the words 'rí' meaning "king" and 'rua' meaning "red" (usually implying red hair). Rory had been exclusively a man's name until the late 20th century, when it occasionally became used for girls as well (especially in the USA).
